Big guns set to fire at COSAFA Cup 2018

 

zim warriorsJOHANNESBURG – THE annual Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup will run at full throttle this weekend as the region’s big guns join the competition at the quarterfinal stage.

Defending champions Zimbabwe and hosts Bafana Bafana are penciled to play their yet to be known opponents at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in the Limpopo Province on Sunday.

Hosts Bafana Bafana are in action at 15h00 while the Warriors, as the
Zimbabweans are known, kickoff at 17h30.

Prior to the eagerly-anticipated appearance by the tournament favourites, Madagascar battles out with Comoros at the Seshego Stadium on Friday.

Mozambique plays Seychelles Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Both matches kick-off at 17h30.

On Saturday, Angola will lock horns with Malawi at Seshego while Botswana battle out with Mauritius at the Old Peter Mokaba.

Both encounters are at 17h30.

The matches will determine the sides to play South Africa and Zimbabwe.

South Africa will play the winner in Group A, which consists of Comoros,
Madagascar, Mozambique and Seychelles.

Zimbabwe’s opponents will be in the form of Group B winners where Angola,
Botswana, Malawi and Mauritius are competing.

The Zambia-vs-Namibia and Lesotho-vs-Swazliland encounters complete the
quarterfinals.

Semifinals are scheduled for next Wednesday, paving way for the final on Saturday next week at the New Peter Mokaba.

The regional tournament resumed last Sunday, as The Pirates of Seychelles and The Coelacantes, as Comoros are otherwise known, played to a 1-1 draw.

Madagascar’s Bareas beat the Mambas of Mozambique 2-1.
